I wonder how Vinny DelNegro will be remembered for his coaching tenure with the Chicago Bulls. On the eve of opening night the rookie coach has not yet said who his starting center will be, rather a three-headed monster that will likely consist of Aaron Gray, Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas.
Thomas is 6'9 and weighs about 215 pounds. That's skin and bone for any of you wondering.
A guy who is prone to foul trouble, and learning how to be an impact player other than a highlight bone-head, shouldn't be playing center. He should have to say "center."
And the worst part of it is, Gray might be the actual starter. Granted he sets a legitimate screen, but I think his pairing with Derrick Rose won't do anything for the budding star's career.
Just a thought: Does Joakim Noah do anything at a pro level other than waive his arms fast? It takes a lot to develop an offensive game this late in someone's career. But does he even play defense well? No.
And that's part of the problem. We have certain guys on this roster that are supposed to be tabbed as defensive specialists/rebound, hustle types. But they're really just hustle types. Noccioni is not an especially good defender, mostly undersized and lacking lateral speed to keep up with the top small forwards.
Noah lacks strength and doesn't have the instincts to make plays before they happen.
Thomas is out of position more times than not.
Hinrich fouls too much.
Hughes is only a good defender when interested, but gambles too much.
This much we do know: If this team has some sort of flaw, it's interior defense and that won't be repaired by Rose.

If you give Sefalosha a chance, I think bulls fans will see that we have a real starting no. 2 with actual size. His style of play will fit perfectly with Rose. Pax needs to make a trade quick because I can't see Hinrich and Gordon being happy coming off the bench.
Aaron Flippin Gray? You've got to be kidding me? A starter...in the NBA?
Beleive me: The Bulls are going to the playoffs. If we play anywhere close to what we did a year ago, then we'll have some success. It's a joke that fans are playing this team down with the addition of Rose. Ty will benefit most from him.
It's going to be Chanlder Paul in the midwest.
To me, it makes no sense to allow anyone from that Chicago Bench to start. Gray sucks, Noah sucks, Thomas sucks.
Gooden should start, but I'm thinking he might think he's better than he really is. It's ridiculous.
