Derrick Rose, you're table is ready

I sat in the rafters last night one guy, who seemed to think everyone enjoyed his external monologue, was clamoring for Luol Deng.

He didn’t stop.

“That’s the star,” he belted. “Put him in.”

No, he’s not a star. But, it’s not hard to notice how much the swingman has benefited from Derrick Rose early one, using screens and curling around Gooden and Noah to receive sharp passes.

  • He was attacking the hoop, not fearful of fouls. Neither was Tyrus Thomas. The athletic forward played a staggering 41 minutes Tuesday night, raking in 15 points and 10 rebounds.

I’m not sold on Thomas yet; I want to be. He still shuffles his feet when setting picks and seems oversized still when guarding true power forwards. But the Bulls have to be encouraged by his play last night.

What was most important, was that the team shot 51 percent mostly by getting into the paint and creating space for their shooters. It’s refreshing to see the team not settling for 32 percent jump shooting.

All about Rose: I think most can agree that the Chicago Bulls have among the most exciting entrance ceremonies in the NBA. The problem is, they haven’t had a player to be excited in 10 years. Last night, when the 20-year-old Chicago native was called—at the end—the crowd sounded as if the free Big Mac was already a sure thing.

It was a decidable roar and a worthy homecoming for Chicago’s son.

While Rose had a nice debut, he certainly proved that he can play defense. The stats show he came up with 3 steals, but he tipped and deflected numerous passes that could have resulted in about 6.

Vinny DelNegro’s coaching debut was a winner. His players looked aggressive, quick and most importantly, interested.

Don't get too far ahead of yourself, there buddy. It was the first game and Vinny DelHarris hasn't proven that he knows what he's doing.

The first half of that game sucked but the Bulls were definitely trying to push the ball. They keep working at it, they're going be the same team we saw two years ago but with better offense.
